Climber Map is a map for outdoor climbers. It is not an advertising business and does not make money from data about you. This page describes everything the app collects, which is not much.

Signing in is required to use the app. Sign-in goes through Google: Google confirms who you are and passes us your name, email address, and profile picture. We never see your Google password.
That is the entire contents of your account. We do not ask for your phone number, date of birth, address, or payment details, and there is nowhere in the app to enter them.
If you grant location permission, the app draws your position on the map and can recenter the map on you. That position is read on your phone and used to draw on the screen. It is never sent to us or to anyone else. We do not store your location, we do not keep a history of where you have climbed, and there is no server that could receive it.
Location is optional. Declining it leaves the rest of the app fully usable.
Wall photographs shown in the app are published by us as part of the guidebook. Standard builds of the app have no way to upload a photo, so the app does not read your photo library. A separate contributor build, used by people who survey crags for the guidebook, can upload photos; those are stored with no link to the contributor's account.
These companies process data on our behalf, and only to run the service:
Map and route downloads are ordinary file requests. They are not tied to your account, and we do not build a record of which crags you looked at.
Your account is kept until you delete it. Deleting it removes your account, sign-in credentials, display name, and profile picture immediately and permanently.
If you contributed corrections to the guidebook, those corrections remain, because other climbers rely on them — but they are no longer linked to you: your name, email, and account id are erased from the record. You can delete your account at any time from inside the app. If you want a copy of what we hold about you, or want it corrected, email us and we will sort it out. Depending on where you live you may have further rights over your data under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA; we will honour those requests regardless of where you live.
Climber Map is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will remove it.
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect or how we use it, we will update the date at the top of this page and note the change in the app's release notes.
